Sample Disclaimer Statements: Liability and Warranty Disclaimer Templates

If you have a blog, website, ebook or other information product it’s a good idea to include a disclaimer for such things as earnings, warranty and limits of liability.

The following samples of liability and earnings  disclaimer templates provide a starting point for the wording you need – but keep in mind that they are for information purposes only and may not be exactly right for your needs (see, I just included a disclaimer there!)

By the way, if you need a disclaimer or release of liability for something other than an information product, I recommend the release of liability forms on this website.

Example 1: Limit of Liability Disclaimer (for Information Provided)

The information contained in this product / on this site is for information purposes only, and may not apply to your situation. The author, publisher, distributor and provider provide no warranty about the content or accuracy of content enclosed. Information provided is subjective. Keep this in mind when reviewing this guide.

Neither the Publisher nor Author shall be liable for any loss of profit or any other commercial damages resulting from use of this guide.  All links are for information purposes only and are not warranted for content, accuracy, or any other implied or explicit purpose.

Example 2: Earnings Disclaimer

Earnings Disclaimer: The income examples on this website are just that – examples. They are not intended to represent or guarantee that everyone will achieve the same results. You understand that each individual’s success will be determined by his or her desire, dedication, background, effort and motivation to work. There is no guarantee you will duplicate any of the results stated here. You recognize any business endeavor has inherent risk for loss of capital.

Not exactly the type of disclaimer you’re looking for? Try the release of liability forms on this website (when you get to the website, look for the link “Release Agreements” under the heading “Legal Rights”).

I am looking for a standard disclaimer template to include on my Spiritual and Nutritional Coaching website. Can you recommend one? I have queried several like-business sites and have seen many versions of disclaimers; however, I wondered if a standard disclaimer template exists for this type of business. Thanks miuch!

Hi Sheila,
To the best of my knowledge, there isn’t a standard disclaimer because the legal liabilities differ depending on jurisdiction (i.e. the country or state you operate in).

We provide Driver Evaluations and recommend their ability to drive or not. Is there a disclaimer that states we aren’t liable in case the individual has an accident?

Hi Joni,
What you need is a release of liability form. Look on this website under the heading “Legal Forms”. They have forms for every state in the U.S. You would also be wise to check with your local authorities to make sure that the form is sufficient in your jurisdiction.

I have recently written an autobiography/memoir of my youth. Because of some sensitive issues, I have changed all names; however, local historic landmarks and organizations are mentioned without any alteration. My concern is that someone could identify the individuals, regardless of the name changes. I want to protect myself from a lawsuit. What type of disclaimer would be appropriate? Is there a template for such? Thanks.

Fran, I can’t give legal advice but for a sample you might want to look on the inside cover of any similar book published by a major publishing company.
